Phycocyanin is a natural water-soluble blue pigment protein belonging to the phycobiliprotein family. It is mainly found in cyanobacteria (such as Spirulina and Oscillatoria) and some red algae. Its color-developing group is phycocyanin, which gives it a bright blue color. Phycocyanin is not only an auxiliary pigment for photosynthesis, but also has a variety of biological activities.
